Job Description - Software Developer

Salary £17k to £28k plus a percentage of profits (potential 10k in first year).

The Solutions Factory is expanding to further develop its ERP systems for national and international clients.

The Solutions Factory will give you the opportunity to develop complete systems from the initial design to development, support and maintenance.

Have the satisfaction of knowing that thousands of people are using systems developed by you to carry out their daily work.

We are a small business that develops world class beating systems for a wide range of organisations from the Reserve Forces, insurance companies, finance companies, manufacturing companies, hospitals, football clubs, museums through to retail outlets. Systems operate on a local, national and international basis.

Solutions range from enterprise resource planning, office management, accounting, database and ticketing systems through to ecommerce systems. Most are now based on Extranet technologies.

Salary negotiable and with huge potential if you can help to build the business. The percentage of profits gives you a unique opportunity to get the benefits of being a shareholder in the business without having to invest a large capital yourself by buying shares. If you are productive enough you could see an additional £10k in the first year alone.

Requirements

Skills in ASP & SQL Server.

Experience not a pre-requisite, but dedication, hard work, flexibility, multi-tasking, speed, open mindedness and imagination are.

Ability to quickly understand all aspects of our clients’ businesses and provide them with an exemplary service. You will not be given explicit specifications; you must be able to understand what the customer needs.

Ability to take full responsibility for projects and complete them within short timescales, with little direction. Ability to manage this in addition to handling urgent support and upgrade issues as and when they arise.

Ability to examine and rapidly understand existing in house code, upgrade existing systems and develop new systems based on those styles without ‘re-inventing the wheel’.

The system should present the user with a web page with a grid of data entry boxes.

The user will populate the grid with the numbers they know e.g. the top grid above.

The user will press a button and be shown the full solution e.g. the bottom grid above.

The system should consist of a single ASP script page (NB. not ASP.Net and preferably server side VBScript). Please email (zipped up) together with your CV to greg@solutions-factory.co.uk.

The system should be as simple as possible, it doesn’t matter how long it takes to run, and it shouldn’t take you long to write. No prizes for elegance or spending days on it!
